Acute neurological injury can lead to dramatic and irreversible consequences for individuals, and it is a cause of lifelong disability worldwide. It has a major impact not only on patients, but also on families and carers, and represents a significant burden in terms of health costs.

Clinical and basic science lectures, as well as workshops from distinguished specialists in the field will discuss merits and limitations of existing models of injury used in research. We will also present an overview, including demonstrations, of the key clinical issues in this field, and promising translational research avenues.
