The impact of a spinal cord injury extends far beyond the individual. It touches the lives of families, friends, colleagues and communities. Relationships are reshaped, roles are redefined, and the dynamics of everyday life undergo radical change.

With a number of our team living with spinal cord injury, we understand first-hand the trauma caused by paralysis and the impact it has on families in particular.

Until recently it was felt that repairing and restoring the spinal cord was not possible. However science has made huge progress over the last 40 years, and we are starting to now see the first generation of treatments which will restore function after injury.

So there is hope for the future, but we need the support of the whole community to help cure paralysis.
