We are excited to announce that we’ve strengthened our partnership with the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation with a new international research call.
Together, our organisations are dedicated to funding groundbreaking research aimed at developing life-changing, function-restoring treatments for people living with spinal cord injury, and ultimately finding a cure for paralysis.
In 2021, we co-funded a £1m joint scientific call, now supporting four innovative translational research projects. These projects encompass a range of promising approaches, including genetically engineered stem cells, novel drugs and biomaterials, and acute intermittent hypoxia (AIH) – a non-invasive therapy that has demonstrated the potential to improve breathing and movement following spinal cord injury.
Our latest research call is a global invitation to researchers and industry partners to collaborate on testing new drugs, biologics, devices, and gene therapy approaches. Selected projects will receive funding for one or two years, with grants of up to just over £200,000.
We are eager to see the progress and breakthroughs that will emerge from these collaborative efforts.
“Accelerating the delivery of meaningful therapeutics is at the heart of our strategic alliance with the Reeve Foundation. The latest scientific call is another joint step on the journey towards the repair and restoration of the spinal cord."

Harvey Sihota, our Chief Vision Officer said: “Accelerating the delivery of meaningful therapeutics is at the heart of our strategic alliance with the Reeve Foundation. The latest scientific call is another joint step on the journey towards the repair and restoration of the spinal cord. In this call we’re encouraging industry to become a partner in concept-proving science, providing greater understanding of a proposed new therapeutic or device so we can speed up the next stages of development. The message to the field is come and do this stuff. It’s really exciting and important.”
