Ellen joined the lab of Professor Elizabeth Bradbury at King’s College London in 2015 with a studentship reward from Spinal Research researching the restoration of upper limb function using a novel combination of neuro rehabilitation techniques including chondroitinase.
She completed her PhD in 2018 and presented her work at the Spinal Research Network Meeting that year. At the event Eleni was offered a post-doctorate position at Center for Neural Repair, University of California, San Diego in the lab of Dr Mark Tuszynski, Professor of Neurosciences.
Previously, after completeing her BSc Neuroscience at University of Glasgow with the Spinal Cord Group, Ellen went to America to City College, University of New York. There, she studied for her MSc Neuroscience investigating implanted electrophysiological data in the development of the corticospinal tract. The study involved periods at University of Freiburg, Germany and INCI - Universitè de Strasbourg, France.
During her PhD studies in London, Eleni wa a key supporter of Spinal Research doing her own fundraising and helping at other fundraising events.
