My names George Dowell MBE, I’m 31 and live in Worthing with my girlfriend & daughter (6months old). I had a C5/C6 complete spinal cord injury when I was 17 years old, back in 2010. I was a keen footballer prior to my injury. Obviously the SCI put a pretty abrupt end to my playing days but I was very keen to stay involved in football, albeit in a slightly different capacity! I ended up buying my local football club, Worthing FC. Things seem to have gone pretty well over the past 8/9years, which, along with my disability awareness work, resulted in me being awarded an MBE at the end of 2023.
