Spinal Research Ambassador

My name is Jonathan and I live in South Wales with my wife and four children. 17 years ago at the age of 22 I sustained a C4/5 Complete Spinal Cord Injury in a diving accident which left me paralysed from the chest down.

I decided to get involved with spinal research as I have always followed closely the work they do and I wanted to help raise money to give something back. In a joint fundraising effort with my close friend Lloyd (also a spinal research ambassador) I managed to summit Pen Y Fan and we raised over £18,000 which will help towards finding a cure for paralysis. I really believe a cure is around the corner and if we all do our bit, we will get there quicker!!

Sustaining a Spinal Cord Injury is catastrophic and devastating but it is not the end! Life goes on, you just have to find a new way of living. I’m very fortunate, I have a great life and a wonderful family and I hope that one day I will be an example to others that life still goes on!
