Sep 2018 - US research shows electrical stimulation helps people walk again

Researchers at University of Louisville, USA have published a report in New England Journal of Medicine regarding a small group of paraplegic patients that have been able to take steps after receiving an implanted device to electrically stimulate their spinal cords.

This is another study showing that electrical stimulation of the spine is having a positive effect in paralysis. Current research is also being undertaken using electrical stimulation for bladder function. The article in The Guardian explains the study.
