Hebbian Stimulation: A Non-Invasive Approach Advancing Spinal Cord Injury Recovery

Secure your place

We are excited to announce a special Zoom webinar where Dr. Monica Perez will share insight into one of the most promising areas of spinal cord injury research: Hebbian Stimulation.

Dr Perez will share her work about the technique. This unique approach involves delivering electrical pulses to neurons in the spinal cord as well as motor neurons – which are responsible for supplying muscles.

When this happens, the neurons “fire together” and over time, their connections become stronger. This strengthening effect makes it easier for signals from the brain to reach the muscles,

So far, studies have shown that compared to participants who receive sham stimulation, those who received Hebbian stimulation showed greater improvement in walking speed, grasping and quality of life.
