Siblings take on London Marathon in memory of grandmother

Siblings Holly, Anna and Campbell Fraser will be on the start line of this year’s London Marathon in memory of their beloved grandmother.

Their remarkable ‘Grandi’ Diana was a young Mum of three when she was tragically paralysed from the waist down in a freak riding accident on the family’s Buckinghamshire farm. Diana died two years ago, aged 84, and her devoted grandchildren are putting on their running shoes to take on their first marathon in her memory.

“Grandi was a remarkable woman and an inspiration to everyone who knew her,” said Campbell, 20, who is studying economics at Bristol University. “She was in her early 30s when she had this awful, accident that left her paralysed from the waist down, including bowel and bladder paralysis.

“Thanks to the unwavering support of friends, family, and medical professionals she was able to live a rich, fulfilling life and we want to raise awareness for others who suffer life-changing spinal cord injuries and support ongoing research into treatment and recovery.”

Campbell will be running every mile of the world’s largest marathon with London-based sisters Anna, 23, and 24-year-old Holly. He added: “I’m sure it will be emotional but very special to be running with my sisters in memory of Grandi and the charity that meant a lot to her.”

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed after a spinal cord injury – it can happen to anyone at any time with devastating consequences for them and their loved ones.

Spinal Research is the leading UK charity funding and supporting the best research around the world to develop life-changing new treatments and therapies for those paralysed after a spinal cord injury.

Suzanne Redding, Head of Audience and Community for Spinal Research, said: “With the first function restoring treatment in history now available and more breakthrough therapies coming, we really need as much money as possible to get these to the 105,000-plus people living every day in the UK with a devastating spinal cord injury.

“So, we are incredibly grateful to Campbell and his sisters for joining this year’s London Marathon #TeamSpinal. Every pound raised takes us a step closer to our goal of curing paralysis”.

Campbell, Anna and Holly will be on the start line of the 2026 London Marathon on Sunday, April 26. You can support them here https://bit.ly/3ZMGew9
