3 peaks, 800 miles, 1 motivation.
This May, Tom March is taking on an extraordinary challenge in memory of his sister Caroline and to help drive research towards a cure for paralysis.
Support Tom here Track Tom’s challengeCaroline March was a gifted equestrian who tragically died by assisted suicide just over a year ago, two years after being paralysed in a cross-country riding accident. She was only 31.
To honour her memory and help others facing the same life-changing injuries, Tom will be cycling over 800 miles from Balmoral Castle to Windsor Castle with climbs up the UK’s three highest peaks along the way, all in just 100 hours.
“There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think about Caroline. While we couldn’t save her, perhaps we can make a difference for others living with a spinal cord injury.”
Tom March

Tom, who runs March Stud with his wife, Olympic medallist and leading event rider Piggy March, knows firsthand how devastating spinal cord injuries can be.
“Before Caroline’s accident, I was naïve. I thought being in a wheelchair just meant not being able to walk. But it changes every part of your life. Caroline didn’t want to live with those consequences but she believed passionately in the power of research to find a cure.”

Tom’s solo journey starts on Sunday, 11 May, and the plan is as ambitious as it is inspiring:
- Day 1: Cycle over 100 miles from Balmoral Castle to the base of Ben Nevis, then climb the 1,345m peak.
- Day 2: Ride a staggering 220 miles to the Southern Lake District.
- Day 3: Climb Scafell Pike (978m) at dawn, then cycle another 180 miles to Snowdonia.
- Day 4: Summit Snowdon (1,085m), then push on for over 200 miles.
- Day 5: A final 100-mile ride to the finish line at Windsor Castle, arriving at the Royal Windsor Horse Show on Thursday, 15 May.
This challenge follows the incredible success of Cycle4Caroline, where Tom and Piggy rode 684 miles in 11 days last November, joined by legends of the equestrian world. Together, they raised nearly £350,000 for Spinal Research and the British Eventing Support Trust.

We’re incredibly proud to have Tom March taking on this monumental challenge supporting Spinal Research. Tom’s motivation is deeply personal, and he has become determined to help others. His sister Caroline was passionate about the need for scientific progress to cure paralysis, and Tom is now continuing that fight in her memory.
By pushing himself to his physical and emotional limits, Tom is helping us fund pioneering research with the potential to restore movement and transform lives after spinal cord injury
